DESIGN PIER X DESIGN ART TOKYO, 2019 – PIRANHA

In 2019 October, Design Pier produced DESIGN ART TOKYO‘s main event at the World building in Aoyama. Design Pier presented a selection of highly creative design objects and collectible design furniture by the most progressive design studios from the Asian continent.

Besides proposing a platform to raise new production opportunities for designers and nurturing the development of the creative culture in Asia, the exhibition opened a dialogue that reflects on the changes in international design, provoked by an alternative design thinking that originates in Asia.

Apical reform exhibited Piranha at the Design pier Tokyo 2019, Retaining the external anatomical contours of the carnivore, its actuality is imagined as a bio-mechanical machine, transposed by a metaphorical system of gears, levers, and linkages fabricated in thin sheets of mild steel. The intricate details, prominent in the layers of juxtaposed geometries, add multiple dimensions to the artwork as it reveals the hidden.
