An evolving design practice, Apical Reform is a collaborative studio established in 2011, led by Amrish Patel and Darshan Soni. As part of a new vanguard of emerging Indian designers, the Ahmedabad-based studio is at the intersection of art and innovation, combining design with technology and manufacture.
The diverse portfolio that encompasses functional art, bespoke art, kinetic art, and parametric design reflects the studio’s interest in a continuing journey of experimentation and discovery that is not limited by labels.
Our ethos stems from the conviction that design is a powerful, intuitive, and timeless medium that should create authentic, transformative experiences. Our approach is rooted in a thorough understanding of the environment, as well as the material, purpose, and process. Amrish Patel,
Creative Director
Principal and founder at Apical Reform, Amrish Patel, always had a passion for Art and the Innovative. His aesthetic sensibilities, whetted over the years through a keen knowledge of the rolling trends in arts as well as technology and innovation, coupled with his vision to bring together two of his inclinations, led to the founding of Apical Reform.
Amrish finds great joy in turning ideas into reality. His creative passion is fuelled by his constant endeavour to seek the highest order of quality with an innate design sensibility, knowledge of market dynamics, and resource management. He completed his graduation and post graduation from Australia and United Kingdom.
Darshan Soni,
Design Director
Co-founder Darshan Soni is an architect and an avid photographer, with a keen interest in the pedagogy of design. An alumnus of the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT) University, India, where he also serves as a visiting faculty, Soni’s parametric approach to design is rooted in his curiosity of naturally occurring multiplicity and reflection, and his quest to transform the abstract into the tangible. A strong advocate for sustainability, Soni’s storied design journey and ability to engage with audiences, spaces and materials on the same frequency, has helped shape the ethos that Apical Reform represents.
